Mardi Gras with Neecee Blackwell

MARDI GRAS has arrived and soon masks, costumes and regalia will abound! Getting started early on his Mardi mask is KTBS, Channel 3 News Personality, Rick Rowe, seen here enjoying a face painting by WEACO Vice President, Neecee Blackwell. Rick interviewed the professional face painter about her business and some of the festivities she'll be involved in to celebrate the beginning of Mardi Gras in the Ark-La-Tex. After painting Rick, Neecee painted other KTBS staff members, with a mardi gras mask and a requested Gene Simmons of KISS mask, as oddly non-Mardi gras as that is. The interview will be aired KTBS Channel 3 on Thursday, February 5th during several newscasts and after that will be on the station's website, http://www.ktbs.com/. For a schedule of where Neecee Blackwell's Facez Face and Body Painting will be painting fabulous, fanctful masks, please check out her website http://www.facezfacepainting.com/ and click on the "My Schedule" tab.

Elvis Has NOT Left the Building

From the stage of the Municipal, the country was rocked by Elvis Presley’s first radio broadcast/performance of “That’s All Right, Mama” which soon became a top ten hit across the country.

Inspired by artist Jane Heggen, Shreveport's Historical Municipal Auditorium hosts the West Edge Artist's Co-op Show "Elvis Has NOT Left The Building". The public is invited to join us in a celebration of our members’ artistic interpretations of the life, legend, and birthday of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll - ELVIS PRESLEY. Come enjoy our birthday celebration and discover that the spirit of Elvis has not left the building!

Seated in the front row of the Municipal Auditorium, through its 80-year history, you could experience the birth and evolution of rock and roll. Walk through these historic halls with our tour guides to hear the tales of history and little known trivia of the legends.

Opening Reception & Silent Auction is on his birthday, Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 at 5:30 pm at Municipal Auditorium. Silent auction continues through 5:30 pm on Fri., Jan. 30.
